As the optometrist and owner of Specs Direct Opticians I recently embarked on an eyewear adventure that was nothing short of a spectacle (pun intended!). You might remember my affection for Lindberg which are Danish, minimalist design glasses – sleek, understated, and so unobtrusive they could’ve been invisible. I’ve rocked the same design in two colours for two years, flaunting them in newsletters like a proud dad showing off his kids’ art on the fridge.

But then, British flamboyance strutted into my life in the form of the new Cutler and Gross collection. These frames were the sartorial equivalent of a rock concert next to my quiet, minimalist jazz. It reminded me of a recent article by Adrian Chiles in the Guardian on his eyewear escapades. It struck a chord – glasses aren’t just about vision; they’re about perception, both self and others’. Sure, everyone has an opinion, but when it comes to glasses, it’s the wearer’s view that tops the charts. So, here I am, navigating the world with my new look, feeling like a secret agent with the power of sight!
