The New OCT Scan has Arrived
A lot of patients have commented on how nice and easy to use our new visual field machine is. If this wasn’t enough I have recently purchased our most expensive and advanced piece of equipment. Â
The new equipment is called an OCT which stands for Ocular Coherence Tomographer. It not only takes a photograph of the eye but also a cross section scan of the retina and particularly the macula. This can then be compared to a normal database. This is useful for detecting glaucoma and macula degeneration before any signs and symptoms are visible. There is a charge for the advanced eye examination which incorporates the OCT exam and you will need to leave some extra time. Remember the oct scan is painless and we do not even have to put drops in the eyes. But please do not tell my wife about all the new equipment as she is wondering why we cannot do any building work in the house and garden.Â
